Tigers in the Sky - Baby Blue

Faculty of Medicine, UiTM Sungai Buloh

Hello peeps, this post right here will be dedicated to my juniors who will be joining me at my beloved faculty soon. I guess it's not too late say "Welcome to UiTM Sungai Buloh" 🎉🎊. So you've arrived at the next stage of your life, which means new challenges, new beginnings, new opportunities, a new journey, a new plateau to conquer, and of course a whole new life to look forward to. I'm not going to go into details about what this course is about, the syllabus, curriculum, and whatsoever. If you which to know more about that kind of stuff I would like to recommend you to visit other blogs or just click this link right over here: https://afiqzulazhar.blogspot.my/2017/08/what-to-expect-faculty-of-medicine-uitm.html . That blog is handled by Afiq Zul 🐵, which happens to be my housemate and my Ketua Rumah. He's kind, friendly, enthusiastic, and a genius as well. What I'll be talking about in this post, would be more directed towards our life at UiTM Sungai Buloh. However, I can't really say much since I have only spent about 2 semesters here 😆. ( I will be entering the 3rd semester this coming September )

Me and the squad in front of our faculty, they're all my housemates. From the right: Hamidin, Udin, Afif, Aizat, Me 🐟, Badrol, Syafiq, Afiq, Yusof, and Haziq (my roommate)

Ok, first of all, I would like to say that life's very fun and enjoyable at this campus. Even though we're studying medicine which what most people consider to be the "most difficult" course, I believe that if we allocate our time properly, we can always ace the exam 📚😪 ( or pass the exam, some people consider passing the exam as an achievement which is not wrong because the exams are quite difficult to be frank ) Of course, you need to study at your own pace, if you think that you're a weak student then you'll need to study a bit harder than other people, you know yourself better than other people so adjust your timetable accordingly. Anyway, in my opinion, all courses actually have their own difficulties, so you can't simply say course A is more challenging compared to course B and vice versa. It's ok to say that your course is exhausting, strenuous, arduous, onerous, back breaking, but to belittle other courses, that would be a very dumb thing to do. The mind boggling stigma regarding studying medicine is that the students have no life which is a bit ironic since the ones with no life are the one studying so hard so that in the future they can save other people's life. In any case, there's no need to fret about other people's opinions. There are lots of entertaining things that can be carried out around here. 😉

Regarding the accommodation, I would say it is marvelous. There are 3 residential colleges; Residential College 1, 2, and 3 🌇. RC1 will be allocated to female medical students, while female dental students will be billeted at RC3. Male medical and dental students will be placed at RC2. ( Female medical students will move to Selayang Campus during their 4th and 5th year while the male medical students will move to Selayang Campus during their final year ) After registration, all of the students will be placed in a house with 5 rooms; 2 people in each room. Toilets are very clean and comfortable. At the end of the toilet there's a space provided to hang your clothes, along with 2 sets of clothesline. The house is quite spacious so there's always room to carry out any random and weird activities that you have in mind 🙌. We have free wifi but certain houses at RC2 doesn't get the signal. I heard that it's way worse at RC1 because the female students would always complain about how bad the wifi signal is over there. Lifts are provided so you don't need to worry about taking the staircase. Sometimes the lifts will breakdown once in a while. No worries though there's always a technician/repairman/random wizard who will be fixing the lifts when it's screwed up. On top of that, water coolers are also provided on floor 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12. Disclaimer: I don't know if the same setting applies to RC1 or RC3 because I've only stayed at RC2 for the last 2 semester. 🤷

There's even a swimming pool at this campus! Just kidding 😜 This is our post-progress test party at Zaim's condo in Damansara 🏊

At the ground floor of each residential college, there's at least one musolla 🕌. But the musolla that is often used for activities is the biggest musolla which is situated at RC2. It's not that big actually but bigger compared to the musolla at RC1, RC3, and the mini musolla at RC2. No need to agonize if you're a so-dorm ( read: solat dekat dorm ) practitioner, they don't enforce people to pray at the musolla although it's always better to pray in groups. A multitude of activities will be organised by the musolla people and ALIS such as Sedulang Sejiwa every Thursday where 3 or 4 people will eat in a big plate/talam 🥘together regardless of age but of course, will be separated by gender. Tarawih prayers will also be conducted at RC2 along with other programs meant to increase our iman, in sha Allah.

With the committee members of the 1st Class Solah program held by the EMI (Exco Modal Insan) under MESTA.

If you're looking for a gym then look no further. There's a gym situated at the ground level of each residential college, and recently the gym at RC2 has been renovated and it's so comfortable and cheerful looking, just like the musolla it's open 24 hours. If you're not into bodybuilding 🏋 then there's always the treadmill 🏃 or the bicycle 🚴 for you to use. There's an electronic weighing scale so you can always update your current progress if you're intending to lower your weight. Besides the gym, the campus also provides sports amenities so if you want to play ping pong/table tennis, squash, badminton, volleyball, basketball, futsal, sepak takraw, feel free to do that. There's not a lot of students who play sepak takraw during the evening so I am kind of hoping that there will be a lot of freshmen playing sepak takraw hmm 👉👈 . If you're too preoccupied until you can't even play during the evening, you can always play during the night. One thing that sucks is that the polis bantuan/guards 👮 [ PB ] would stop the game around 12 to 1 am. It's probably logical if it's on the weekdays but to do that during the weekends, I don't think that's a rational move. Weekends are the time that we students use to relax/rest and playing sports is one of the ways to relax. 😞 *sighs* Akhabwhjbcehwkjbyjfwqeiufcjqhwcbjlhwbkenmnojgygkhmjvmbvbmvcfxchwaegxwakjbdjkabqwcjnqiociwrtvgerwhywerhyqjejtrqehtgziqhfgwjehfckqwjfhqwwcfvkjacbwjkqcnfwqeoynfc7ewtewuonnwc

The cool kids 😎 There's no football field provided for the students at the campus 😭 This was during the annual Sports Anthem at SMK Sierramas ⚽

I almost forgot, our faculty have the standard facilities and equipment needed like other medicine faculties: lecture hall, library, laboratories, dissection hall, et cetera. But what makes our faculty unique is that we have our very own museum. How cool is that? I often see students hanging out at the museum. Some even study here instead of going to the library which is not a surprise because the environment is quite tranquil; free from any unnecessary disturbances + there are fewer people here compared to the library 🤓.

I and my PBL teammates along with Dr Ruzain, our group's PBL instructor for the 2nd semester after our last PBL session 👬👭. Too bad we didn't take any pictures with Dr Suhaila; the PBL instructor for the 1st semester and Dr Syed Baharom;  co-PBL instructor for the 2nd semester

Throughout the year, there will be a myriad of activities organised by either SMF, MESTA, JPK, ALIS, PEERS or other organisations ( you'll know more about these organisations when you enter the campus ), but what piques my interest the most would be the annually coveted Medical Intervarsity Games 🏅[ MIVG ] where medic students from all over the country, IPTS medic students included, would join to compete in various sports event. Unfortunately every year Sepak Takraw is not included due to the fact that there's not a lot of students who want to play Sepak Takraw. There's also a singing competition 🎤 during MIVG so if you think you've got the talent and courage to represent your faculty then come forward and sign up for the event. If you have friends studying medicine from other universities in Malaysia then you might even meet them at this event. Don't worry if you're not an athlete, you can still join the event either as supporters or as committee members of your own faculty. 😀

I guess that's all for the time being. If you want to know more just dm me on Twitter, WhatsApp me or drop a comment below and if I have the time I'll respond. I'm currently free until the next semester starts, which is on the 11th of September so there's a high probability that I won't ignore your message. Good luck and all the best to the freshmen who'll be entering our faculty, Carpe Diem! 😊

With Atifah; the girl taking the selfie and Hamidin; the cool guy with the double thumbs up. We just got back from the Perkampungan Orang Asli at Jerantut, Pahang. Had to travel by boat in order to reach their village, a pleasurable memory that I'll always treasure.

P.S: Sorry my blog's kinda bland and too plain looking at the moment 😟 , do forgive me as I'm new to this thing and I promise I would spend a few time to make this blog look better as I progress. Till we meet again, toodles! 😳
